Europe and the War in Ukraine

How have the EU and the UK responded to this crisis and what does it mean for their current/future defence co-operation?

The first anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, a flagrant violation of a sovereign nation’s territorial integrity and Europe’s peace and security order, could be the prelude to huge new spring offensives by both sides.

How have the EU and the UK responded to this crisis and what does it mean for their current/future defence co-operation? Will it propel a European defence union?

Webinar organised by the European Movement in Scotland.

Speakers:

  • Juliet Kaarbo, Professor of Foreign Policy at the University of Edinburgh and Co-director of the Scottish Council on Global Affairs;

  • Stephen Gethins, Professor of Practice in International Relations at St Andrew’s University and former SNP Commons spokesman on Europe.
