The battle over Brexit and the Tories: UKICE

29/03/2023, 6:30 pm - 8:15 pm
Following the 2016 referendum, some of the fiercest arguments over Brexit took place in parliament. This often brought the institution’s own role under criticism – including from some senior political figures. A new book by Meg Russell and Lisa James (the Constitution Unit, UCL) charts all of the twists and turns, and highs and lows, of The Parliamentary Battle Over Brexit. This event brings the authors into discussion with three senior figures who were closely engaged with the events described in the book.

Panel:

  • Chair: Anand Menon, Director, UKICE
  • Professor Meg Russell FBA, Director, The Constitution Unit, UCL, and former Senior Fellow at UK in a Changing Europe
  • Lisa James, Research Fellow, The Constitution Unit, UCL
  • Lord Gavin Barwell, Conservative peer, and served as Prime Minister Theresa May’s Chief of Staff
  • Sir Graham Brady MP, Altrincham and Sale West, and Chair of the Conservative 1922 Committee
  • Isabel Hardman, Assistant Editor, The Spectator, and author of Why We Get the Wrong Politicians

Venue: King’s Building – King’s College London, Strand, London, UK (Somerset Room and Nash Lecture Theatre)

If you are not able to attend in person then you can watch through our live stream. Please note that the live stream for this event starts at 7:00pm.
