Practical ways of promoting Scotland – Europe links: existing links and how they can be enhanced

Conference organised by European Movement in Scotland

A series of talks about Scotland-Europe links, with speakers from a number of sectors: education, business, local government, voluntary sector, think-tanks, and campaign groups.

An essential event for anyone working in those sectors to find out more about the existing connections, how to take advantage of them, and how they could be developed in the future

 

Speakers include:

  • David Gow, reporting on the Royal Society of Edinburgh Scotland-Europe Initiative: assessing Scotland-Europe links, ideas for the future
  • Jo Goodburn, Jenny Wilson: how European Movement in Scotland promotes Scotland-Europe links, including presentation on “Euro-walks” across Scotland: what they are, how to join in, and how to organise them
  • Frank Strang, Deputy Director Europe Division, Scottish Government: Scotland and Europe
  • William Bain, Head of Trade Policy, British Chambers of Commerce: how the current UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA) is causing post-Brexit problems for business and trade, and how they could be improved in the upcoming TCA review
  • Peter Sellar, Partner, EU Regulatory group, Field Fisher European law firm: business links between Scotland and Europe
  • Irene Oldfather, Chair Scottish Advisory Forum on Europe (SAFE), and Vice Chair U.K. Domestic Advisory Group Trade and Cooperation Agreement: how Scottish civil society can influence European decisions and structures
