A forgotten Father of Europe?(Federal Trust for Education & Research)

The former Director of the Federal Trust, Dr Martyn Bond, will be discussing his most recent book “Hitler’s Cosmopolitan Bastard”, a biography of Count Richard Coudenhove-Kalergi.
Coudenhove-Kalergi (RCK) was a central figure in the history of European integration before and after the Second World War, arguing for a united Europe based initially on shared popular enthusiasm throughout Europe rather than on institutional structures. Martyn Bond’s biography is at the same time a narrative of RCK’s colourful life, a history of Europe in the mid-20th century and a meditation upon the clashing philosophies of RCK and Jean Monnet. The presentation on 7th October will reflect all these complementary elements of the book discussed.
