Looking ahead to the Scottish Budget 2022/23 (Fraser of Allander Institute)

The Scottish budget 2022/23 will be presented to parliament by Kate Forbes on 9th December.

What is the outlook for NHS funding, and will this be sufficient to support the recovery from the pandemic? What are the funding implications of the government’s aspirations to transform the social security system in Scotland and substantially reduce child poverty? What is the outlook for the economy, and how does this influence the government’s choices? What are the government’s options on tax policy, and the implications of these? How do climate change objectives impact the budget?
