Future of US-UK trade relations: IPPR

07/11/2022, 5:30 pm

The US and the UK are longstanding trade partners with shared interests in creating inclusive economic growth and advancing the green transition. After the dialogues on the future of Atlantic trade in Baltimore and Aberdeen earlier this year, the two governments agreed to work on a roadmap to strengthen trade relations. The recent talks included a focus on how the US and the UK can work together on promoting green and worker-centred trade.

This event with a panel of experts will discuss how the US and the UK can develop this agenda further by incorporating joint ambitions on the environment, climate, and labour rights into their trade relations. It follows the publication of a new report by IPPR on how the two countries can build a progressive trade partnership.

Speakers include:

  • Graham Floater, UK Chief Negotiator for Trade with United States, Department for International Trade
  • Kathleen Claussen, Professor of Law, University of Miami School of Law
  • Dr Emily Lydgate, Deputy Director at the UK Trade Policy Observatory
  • Marley Morris, Associate Director for Migration, Trade and Communities, IPPR
  • Chair: Carys Roberts, Executive Director, IPPR
