Breaking news – How to tell what’s real from what’s rubbish? (John Smith Centre)

14/03/2022, 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

It’s never been easier to access the news – whether it’s TV, radio, newspapers or social media, the stream of updates can be never-ending. But with more and more available do you know who to trust? What’s real news and what’s fake? How has this influenced our view of politics and politicians?

The John Smith Centre will be joined by journalist and author, Nick Sheridan, to discuss how to navigate through the highs and lows of our a modern day news cycle, and if these skills can improve trust in politics.

The event will be hosted by John Smith Centre director, Kezia Dugdale, on Monday 14th March at 2pm.

Nick’s book “Breaking News: How to Tell What’s Real From What’s Rubbish” was published in December and looks to answer these key questions for 8-12 year olds.
