Fife4Europe branch meeting

26/01/2023, 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Please note our January meeting will take place this week on Thursday 26th Jan at 7pm, by zoom, here is the link https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87244912813?pwd=c01vZDBFR3dUWjNYTVFoMGpralg5QT09
We do not have a speaker for this meeting as I (Jo Goopdburn) would like to explain some of the goals of EMiS for 2023 so that we can consider how we would like Fife4EU and Dundee4EU to be involved, or what other goals we might like to set ourselves for this area.  In general for each proposed area of work, the EMiS Executive wanted to be clear that we could achieve these three aims:
– to educate
– to campaign
– to have measurable success (goal)

There are nine key areas, currently described as follows, which were discussed at the Exec meeting and a subgroup was set up to work in each area.  At the start of the meeting I will give you a quick overview of the action we have agreed so far, but this will all be presented to members for approval in early March:

1.  Single market/Customs Union/EEA? Return in stages? Lobbying Labour as next UK govt?— our central political campaign

2.    Holyrood Cross Party Group — liaison with parties, new employee to act as secretary of group

3.    Erasmus campaign/maybe unlocking Horizon? — lobbying government

4.    Web casts/In person meetings — our educational outreach

5.    Developing local groups — activities/events/walks — increasing membership and reach

6.    Relations with EMUK, EU&ME, EMI — partnership organisations

7.    PR and Positioning — getting external comms right

8.    Newsletter/website — membership communications

9.   Campaigning on the REUL Bill (on this is you didn’t catch the Glasgow Group’s Lockdown Livestream on this, it is a very helpful explanation:

Catherine Barnard was a phenomenal success having been viewed over 10,000 times
