DESCRIPTION:Please note our January meeting will take place this week on Thursday 26th Jan at 7pm\, by zoom\, here is the link https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87244912813?pwd=c01vZDBFR3dUWjNYTVFoMGpralg5QT09\n\n\nWe do not have a speaker for this meeting as I (Jo Goopdburn) would like to explain some of the goals of EMiS for 2023 so that we can consider how we would like Fife4EU and Dundee4EU to be involved\, or what other goals we might like to set ourselves for this area.  In general for each proposed area of work\, the EMiS Executive wanted to be clear that we could achieve these three aims:\n– to educate\n– to campaign\n– to have measurable success (goal)\n \nThere are nine key areas\, currently described as follows\, which were discussed at the Exec meeting and a subgroup was set up to work in each area.  At the start of the meeting I will give you a quick overview of the action we have agreed so far\, but this will all be presented to members for approval in early March:\n\n1.  Single market/Customs Union/EEA? Return in stages? This will take place on Thursday 17th November at 7:30pm.\n \nThe proposed new venue has changed (the Church were worried about the potentially political nature of our group) to the Meeting Room of Fife Voluntary Action\, in Caledonia House\, Pentland Park\, Glenrothes\, KY6 2AL\, you can find a map here: https://www.fva.org/contact_us.asp and should you have any trouble accessing the building on the night please call my mobile 07498 313304.  As it is an evening meeting there will be plenty of parking in front of the building.\n\nWe are also very pleased that for our first meeting in Glenrothes our speaker will be local MSP and Scottish Government Transport Minister\, Jenny Gilruth. This will provide a good follow up to last month’s meeting with Mark Ruskell when we discussed the future of Rosyth\, possibilities in relation to better links to the pan Europe rail network in the future and other aspects of greening public transport generally.

SUMMARY:Rejoin the EU: Glasgow Loves EU stall

DESCRIPTION:We already have a very active group in the Edinburgh area. However\, we also have members and supporters in the East Lothian and Borders area\, and a number have expressed an interest in setting up a local group (or groups) in that area also.\nIf you are interested in getting involved in a local group in the East Lothian and/or Borders area\, we would like to invite you to join in an online meeting this coming Monday\, 17 October\, at 6.30 pm. We will see what interest there is in such a group\, and discuss what it could do to promote the pro-European message in those areas.\nWhat our local groups do is very much up to our members and supporters in local areas. Some are active in organising street stalls with information and campaign material. Others organise meetings and discussions\, online or in person\, on important European issues. Some publicise the European links of their own communities\, through activities such as ‘Eurowalks’.\n\nIt’s up to you what you want to do in your area – and all our members and supporters are welcome to join in!\nThis online event for East Lothian and Borders will start at 1830 with an introduction by one of our committee:\n\nSir Graham Watson\, former MEP\, and President of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe in the European Parliament.\nWe will then have a talk from another of our members\, John Home Robertson\, former MP and MSP for East Lothian\, about his recent work delivering aid to communities in Ukraine on behalf of Edinburgh Direct Aid.\nAfter that\, we will have a discussion about setting up a local group (or groups) in the East Lothian and Borders area.
