SUMMARY:UK-EU Climate and Energy Relations (UK in a Changing Europe)
DESCRIPTION:Online event hosted by UK in a Changing Europe. \n“For both the UK and EU\, climate and energy policies are top priorities\, increasingly linked to critical questions of economic growth and security. The new Labour government wants to turn the UK into a ‘clean energy superpower’ while President von der Leyen has promised a new ‘clean industrial deal’ as part of her next Commission.   \nIn that light\, could the UK and EU do more to work together? The UK has proposed that climate and energy issues should be part of a new UK-EU security pact\, while President von der Leyen has identified energy as a priority area for closer cooperation with the UK. But how could cooperation be deepened\, and what are the risks of inaction?”\n \nSpeakers \n\nJoël Reland\, UK in a Changing Europe\nCamilla Born\, Climate policy advisor\nHeather Grabbe\, Breugel\nJill Rutter\, UK in a Changing Europe\n\nMore details and registration here.

SUMMARY:Bring back Erasmus+ (Leeds for Europe)
DESCRIPTION:Leeds for Europe are proud to join with Young European Movement UK to present a public meeting exploring the Erasmus+ scheme and what participation would mean for the young people in the UK.\n\nThe UK left the Erasmus+ programme as part of Brexit – and as a result\, snatched vital opportunities away from young people in this country.\n\nErasmus+ gives young people the chance to study\, work and travel across Europe. The Europe-wide programme created countless opportunities for young people in the UK\, as well as bringing talent from other countries into our universities and workplaces. Being outside Erasmus+ puts our country\, and our young people\, at a disadvantage.\n\nThis webinar will feature leading young campaigners who are leading the charge to restore the UK’s place in Erasmus+. \n\nMore details and registration here.

SUMMARY:EU Environmental Policy – its relevance post-Brexit (London4Europe)
DESCRIPTION:Webinar and panel discussion hosted by London4Europe.\n\nSpeaker: Nigel Haigh\, OBE\n\nNigel Haigh is an Honorary Fellow of the Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP)\, and was its Director from 1980 to 1998.\n\nIn his presentation\, Nigel will outline the history of the involvement of the EU in environmental matters\, and the consequences on UK environmental policy of the 2016 referendum result. It is suggested that the biggest long term impact of Brexit concerning environmental policy will be to weaken the UK’s influence on global environmental issues\, which will be most important in the coming decades. Nigel will explain that environmental policy is at the centre of the EU – and not just climate change. It is also a popular subject with the public. He will argue that the European Movement would do well to pay more attention to environmental policy as a way of attracting members. Finally\, he will outline some steps that an incoming Government could take to bring the UK closer to the EU.\n\nNigel Haigh’s presentation will be followed by a panel discussion\, including Klajdi Selimi\, President of the Young European Movement; and Michael Nicholson\, Head of UK Environmental Policy\, IEEP UK. The floor will be opened for comments and questions from the online audience.\n\nRegister here.
